A decorative Shibori cushion cover hand-dyed at our studio in Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand using stitch-resist Shibori techniques and natural colors extracted from dried myrobalan fruits (Terminalia chebula). This particular design is a variation of the "mokume" woodgrain technique created by rows of running stitches. Salts of alum and iron were selectively applied to different areas of the fabric to achieve bands of varying shades. Dyed on cotton fabric that was grown, spun and woven by hand in the Northeast of Thailand.
